UK authors and artists showcase their work at the 2017 Birmingham Comic Art Show

About 60 sellers, artists and writers displayed their work at the Birmingham Comic Art Show last weekend.

Hosted by Birmingham City University, the event offered both a chance to meet creators from the industry and panels to discuss and find out more.

Most visitors stopped at The Shell, on the ground floor, where they could find artists offering a sketch on the spot, old fashioned Nintendo games and local authors presenting their newest books.

Brighton-based author Kevin Gunstone revealed how he came back to writing after spending eight years as a DJ in both his hometown and Ibiza. Before that, he published Mangaverse with Marvel and The Agents with Image Comics.

Since returning to his writing career, the author has published two series – Future Primitive and Planet of the Daemons.

Manchester-based comic artist and illustrator James Chapman, hs put together two books with sounds from around the world.

The first one, called Soundimals, shows children – and adults too – what sounds animals make in different languages, from Romanian to Turkish and Icelandic.
