New York artist brings one-off performance to Birmingham

New York and internationally renowned artist, Allan Harris, is bringing his trio to a one-off set in Birmingham.

Starting his European tour this May, Harris has included Pizza Express on May 13th, to his dates.

Harris and his trio will be performing songs from his latest jazz album ‘Nobody’s Gonna Love You Better (Black Bar Jukebox Redux)’ at this quaint venue in Birmingham’s Brindley Place.

On making his Birmingham debut Harris said: “I am looking forward to performing in Birmingham for the first time because I hear they are real jazz lovers”.

The trio and Harris will embrace the soul and jazz flapper in all of us, with their clear perspective on music.

“There is nothing that I have found better defines and gives credence to my place in this wild and mysterious world than this thing called music”

Harris’ album was chosen as one the top-10 jazz releases in 2016 by the London Times and also featured in Atlantic Magazine’s ‘Artist to watch’, naming him ‘one of today’s most talented jazz performers’.

The Brooklyn-born and Harlem-based performer has developed his reputation over the past 20 years through his ten albums. Each album covering a wide variety of contexts underlined with the rich heritage of jazz.

Alongside his recordings, Allan Harris has performed on a global stage taking him to events and festivals in Europe, Asia, the Middle-East, as well as the London 2012 Olympics and the London Jazz Festival.
