Revealed: the best and worst student accommodation prices in Birmingham

We looked into the weekly average fees for the University of Birmingham, Birmingham City University and Aston University’s accommodation. Here are the costs for each university’s cheapest en-suite single bedroom, as listed on their websites:

University of Birmingham

    • Average price: £134.68
    • Cheapest: The Vale Village – Maple Bank, £87.00
    • Most expensive: The Village Vale: Chamberlain, £193.00 (with meal plan)


Birmingham City University

      • Average price: £120.00
      • Cheapest: City South – Westmount Hall, £104.50
      • Most expensive: Curzon Gateway, Jennens Court and University Locks, £130.00


Aston University

      • Average price: £126.40
      • Cheapest: Lakeside, £124.00
      • Most expensive: Harriet Martineau, £130.00



On average, Birmingham-based students pay £127.03 per week for a single en-suite bedroom. Yet figures from the University of London reveal that a 31% majority of their London-based students also pay within the £126-£150 bracket, for flats and houses.
