Signs at Bromsgrove and Sutton Coldfield were changed by train operator London Midland after the success of Jon-Allan Butterworth and Lauren Rowles at Rio 2016.

The pair won gold for Team GB in the cycling and rowing respectively.

Richard Brooks, London Midland’s commercial director, said: “We want to celebrate a great summer of sport but we also want to help future sporting stars.”

The change also coincided with he launch of the train operator’s Your Sporting Chance initiative which aims to promote a healthy lifestyle in young people, as well as providing kit and equipment to youth sports teams.

Richard added: “Your Sporting Chance empowers and encourages our colleagues to get more involved with the 150 communities we serve across the country.

“We hope the gold running in boards will also inspire more young people to aim for the stars.”
