Runners can now apply for a place in the first marathon to be held in Birmingham for more than 25 years.
The Birmingham International Marathon will take place on 15th October 2017 and feature professional and amateur athletes from across the world.
It is the first time the city has held a 26-mile race since 1989.
Next year’s event is being organised by the Great Run Company. Chairman Brendan Foster said: “We aim to make the Birmingham International Marathon a world-class event that attracts runners of all abilities.
“With over 15,000 people signing up for the event reminder service, the response from the people of Birmingham has already been magnificent.”
The race will start at Alexander Stadium and finish at Millennium Point, passing landmarks such as Villa Park, Edgbaston Cricket Ground and the Selfridges building on the way.
Councillor Ian Ward said: “Not only will this marathon raise the city’s profile and boost the economy, it will encourage people from all walks of life to become more physically active.
“I, for one, cannot wait for Birmingham to host this fantastic event.”
Entry to the race is £55. For more details on how to apply for a place on the start line visit the Birmingham International Marathon website.
