In the last year, Birmingham has dropped from being the 4th most economical city for students to the 22nd, fourth from the bottom of the rankings in NatWest’s latest Student Living Index report.
The survey, which sampled over 2400 students opinions on things like the average cost of rent, average income and the expenditure students spend on everything from study equipment to clothing.
Birmingham was third for the highest expenditure on hobbies and interests, behind Leicester and Liverpool. It was also found that students from Birmingham spend on average more on fashion
It was also found that students from Birmingham spend on average more on fashion than any other city in the UK, with an average of £15 per week, compared to the national average of £10 being allocated to clothing.
